UPDATE
LaToya Jackson SingleLaToya Jackson covered Private Joy on her 1984 album ‘Heart Don’t Lie’. The single had limited release in Japan as a 7″ single, and failed to chart there or gain much attention anywhere else. The single includes the U.S. hit “Heart Don’t Lie” on the B-side. Thanks to dgtlctzn from Housequake.com for pointing this out.

NPGMC Shut Down Over Lawsuit

Saturday, July 8th, 2006

Prince’s website NPGMC was abruptly shut down on July 4th. The website released a statement. The following is an exprect:

Once the NPG Music Club won the 2006 Webby Award, discussions within the NPG began 2 center on what was next. What’s the next step in this ever-changing xperiment? The achievements of the past cannot be questioned and we r truly grateful 4 everything that has been accomplished. But in its current 4m there is a feeling that the NPGMC gone as far as it can go. In a world without limitations and infinite possibilities, has the time come 2 once again make a leap of faith and begin anew? These r ?s we in the NPG need 2 answer. In doing so, we have decided 2 put the club on hiatus until further notice.

Ok sounds like a normal Prince move right? (in my lex luthor voice) WRONG!! Actually Prince is in a trademark dispute with HM Publishers Holdings Limited. According to trademark documents the disagreement started in January 2006. The super sleuths over at the Housequake.com message board have uncovered that HM Publishers Holdings “puts out a magazine called “Nature” and they are suing NPG over the use of “NPG” because the subsidiary that “publishes” the magazine is called “Nature Publishing Group” also known as “NPG”.”

It seems until the matter can be worked out, the NPGMC website will remain shut down.

Juicy Can Cloud Your Judgment

Tuesday, July 4th, 2006

Welcome to the ‘Juicy Can Cloud Your Judgement’ series. What is juicy you ask? Oaktown’s 357 have your answer. Juicy is like the dark side of the force, it can cloud any jedis judgment. Prince is not immune to the effects of Juicy. The very 1st encounter was Denise Matthews. Denise Matthews had the milkshake that Prince couldn’t be without. Princes 1st impulse was to rename Denise ‘Vagina’. I like to think that common gotdamn sense told Prince to “slow down” and rethink that option. Tho it’s funny to think what would church would be like for Denise Matthews now, if she had to explain that her stage name was ‘Vagina’. (and yes I said it..God aint done with me yet either)

Vanity 6 Nasty Girl

Anyway tho, Prince and Denise settled on the name Vanity. And a hoe was born. Ahhh I know the term hoe is HARSH, but what was Vanity talking about on the Vanity 6 album? Well I’ll tell you…she was talking about Trick Topics. I’m not saying Denise herself was a hoe, but the persona on wax was on some dickmedowndaddy stuff, which is not a bad thing.

Vanity 6 Drive Me Wild

Well the point of this post is that Prince took the time to make this album, put them on tour, besides the fact that Vanity or Susan and Brenda couldn’t sing. It’s what I call “Going but naked for what they caint do on recorded.”

Can you name any other “Juicy Can Cloud Your Judgment” moments in the Prince history?
