Once again, great podcast. I think you were missing some obvious influences, though. First of all Larry Graham who’s been not only a musical but also a very spiritual influence. Second another grand ’ol never to forget Funkateer is George Clinton. Speaking of people whom Prince been an influence on I was trying to come up with some female acts. The only one that comes to my mind right now is Meshell Ndegeocello - can anyone think of others? Two other comments I have to drop – Tobias, get you act together!? 3121 is a great album; he’s back on the funky ‘ol school track and you gotta start appreciating that
On the other side I have to back Tobias up on your (way to long) MJ talk. MJ is too freaky at the moment and I don’t believe it’s just americans thinking that. I think he’s in a lot worse trouble than Prince both musically and publicly and to even think Prince should do an act with him right now is just… man… I totally agree that Prince is on the other hand totally satisfied with his music and his position in the public (at least that what I hope). Anyway, I’m looking forward to your next pod!
